OUR HISTORY

Tent_1875.jpg.opt472x354o0,0s472x354.jpg

In 1875, one year after the Chautauqua Institution was organized, the

Chautauqua Congregational Association was gathered.

In 1922, the Chautauqua Reformed Church Society was founded.

Following the formation of the United Church of Christ in 1957, these two organizations came together to form the Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society, in order to continue our mission of inclusive hospitality while bearing witness to the concern of the United Church of Christ for ecumenism and for racial and economic justice.

Our Staff and our Board Members come from various parts of the US and are dedicated to the mission of the Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society.

Until then, we encourage you to read more about our programs and membership.

The Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society is a private, nonprofit corporation supported solely by membership fees, contributions, and offerings from members and friends.  We are grounded in but not officially connected to our denomination.
