Our goal is to embody the all-encompassing love of Jesus Christ to all persons, regardless of race, gender, place of origin, religion, economic status, or sexual orientation.

Because of our love for Jesus Christ and all who Christ loves, and with gratitude for our unique location at the heart of the Chautauqua Institution, we exist to promote Christian friendship, spiritual renewal, and intellectual growth by providing affordable housing in a family environment.

In 1875, one year after the Chautauqua Institution was organized, the Chautauqua Congregational Association was gathered.  In 1922, the Chautauqua Reformed Church Society was founded.

Following the formation of the United Church of Christ in 1957, these two organizations came together to form the Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society, in order to continue our mission of inclusive hospitality while bearing witness to the concern of the United Church of Christ for ecumenism and for racial and economic justice.

Our Staff and our Board Members come from various parts of the US and Canada and are dedicated to the mission of the Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society.

Please remember: Whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome at the United Church of Christ.  We encourage you to learn more about us.  On your next visit to Chautauqua, stop by to enjoy our front porch hospitality.  Until then, we encourage you to read more about our programs and membership.

The Chautauqua United Church of Christ Society is a private, nonprofit corporation supported solely by membership fees, contributions, and offerings from members and friends.  We are grounded in but not officially connected to our denomination.
